YMCA Romford

Located just north of Grenfell Park and the River Rom, Romford YMCA is a large and thriving complex incorporating a hostel and community centre as well as the gym. The YMCA retains its historic and recognisable name, but their charity work has expanded to support all young people. Everyone is welcome at the centre to use their excellent fitness and community facilities. Offering a range of passes and no contract gym memberships , YMCA Romford has something for everyone. The gym contains 64 training stations, with a continuing investment programme to install new machines. There is a big range of both resistance equipment and cardiovascular stations, with plenty of free weights to add to your workout. There is also a fully-accessible special-needs gym and a large air-conditioned dance and fitness studio. The group exercise classes on offer in the studio include mat-work Pilates, Yoga and fitball. There are also some more unusual options – why not try the RPM cycling workout, the Body Vive workout or the new TRX straps class? This landmark 11 storey building is always bustling with activity. There is a climbing wall and a large sports hall for badminton and team games. The centre offers several childcare clubs and there is the all-important café for that post-workout reception. (Additional charges apply for some facilities, please check) With this level of equipment and so much choice, the YMCA has to be the best place to workout in Romford for under £5. How to find us: Romford YMCA is on the south side of Rush Green Road at the Roneo corner junction. The nearest station is Romford (National Rail) which is about 15 minutes walk from the gym. Buses 5 (Romford Market – Canning Town Station) and 175 (Hillrise Estate – Ford Main Works) stop on Rush Green Road. There is free parking on the site.
