About this gym

Thornton Recreation Centre offers excellent facilities, equipment and a friendly and fun environment to work out in. The centre boasts a good range of cardiovascular equipment, including but not limited to treadmills, steppers, rowers, bikes and more. Try out the X-dream bikes which simulate a real bike riding experience. The resistance equipment provided by the centre will suit even the more serious weightlifter. The dumbbells range from 1kg to 40kg, barbells from 5kg to 35kg and lastly there are Olympic bards up to 160kg available to use. For those who are not interested in weight training there are also leg press machines, abductor machines and so much more. 18 resistance stations, 28 cardiovascular stations and a well equipped free weights area including an Olympic Bar are found in the main gym. A further 7 resistance stations, 16 cardiovascular stations and another free weights area can be found in the small gym. The Thornton Recreation Centre is easily accessible. From Bradford City Centre follow Thornton Road (B6145) for approximately 3 miles. Turn left onto Leaventhorpe Lane, then right into the Recreation Centre car park.
